China patents it's first corona vaccine, will be available in markets by end of the year

The entire world is becoming restless for a working vaccine to combat with the novel corona virus pandemic. There is seemingly an unprecedented race amongst several countries to develop the corona vaccine. Russia, United States, Britain and China are leading the race ahead of other countries. Amidst the undeclared competition, China's first corona vaccine has been approved after that of Russia.

As per report of People's Daily, the largest newspaper group of China, vaccine Ad5-nCoV has been received patent rights. The vaccine has been developed in association with CanSino Biologics Inc. National Intellectual Property Administration of China has said that the patent for Ad5-nCoV has been approved on 11 August. This Chinese vaccine is currently undergoing stage-III trial in several countries and is expected a market launch by the end of this year.

Saudi Arab has said they are planning to start stage-III trial of the Chinese Vaccine in their country. CanSino Biologics has said that they are exchanging dialogue with Russia, Brazil and Chile for initiating stage-III trial of the vaccine.

Another vaccine developed by SinoPharm a Chinese company has also entered the final stage of the trial. As per researchers, the vaccine showed good results in the first two stages of the trial. SinoPharm has said they will complete the final trial in 3 months. They also claims to launch the vaccine till the end of this year.

On the other hand, India is working day and night for development of the corona vaccine. Currently 3 Indian vaccines are undergoing different stages of the trial. Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech has started human trial for it's Covaxine which is an indigenous Covid-19 vaccine developed in association with ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research).

Ahmedabad based pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila has also initiated human clinical trial for it's Zycof D syrup. As per Cadila the medicine is expected to be launched by start of the next year. Whereas, Pune based Serum Institute of India has executed an agreement with AstraZeneca (a British-Swedish pharmaceutical company) for manufacturing and supply of the vaccine developed by Oxford University. The vaccine is known as Covishield in India. Serum Institute of India has obtained approval from the Drug Controller General of India for initiating trial of Covishield.

Currently 29 corona vaccines are passing through clinical trials throughout the world. Apart from this there are 138 more vaccines which are at the pre-clinical stage. As per experts, by the start of next year several corona vaccine will become ready for market launch. Usually it takes not less than 10 years for a vaccine to be developed but the corona storm has expedited the process in a never seen way.
